Blueberries

Blueberries and Blood Pressure

Blueberries are widely known to have various health benefits as they contain the highest levels of anti-aging antioxidants of any fresh fruit. But did you know they can also help lower your blood pressure?

A recent study by the Journal of Gerontology* suggests that eating one cup of blueberries each day may help decrease systolic blood pressure and improve blood vessel function.  The high fiber content, along with the highest anti-oxidant levels helps to dissolve the “bad cholesterol” and strengthen the cardiac muscles.

Blueberries are loaded with vitamins, contain energy-boosting nutrients, and are a very effective immune builder and anti-bacterial!

It was also noted that the consumption of blueberries helps to reduce inflammation, aid in digestive health, preserve vision, and increase memory performance!

So, add a handful of blueberries to your next smoothie, salad, yogurt, or cereal.  Or just eat them fresh as a quick snack to help lower blood pressure, improve memory, and make aging a healthier process!
